The Mehos House designed by local architect Thomas Price is one of Galveston's most important and intact historic properties from the mid-20th century. Relatively few mid-century houses on the Island retain such a large degree of integrity. The Mehos House is a notable example of Mid-Century Modern residential architecture common in the US from about 1945-1965. This home is an extended rectangular plan under a low gable roof with sets of floor-to-ceiling windows in groups of five along the west elevation maximizing natural light into the long extended main living space. These spaces open to a private garden with a boomerang-shaped pebble-dash patio. Three private bedrooms and two baths extend along the eastern elevation. Each bedroom has extensive built-in storage. The kitchen has a brand new Bertazzoni (Italian range top and oven). The indoor laundry room has plumbing to accommodate an additional 1/2 bath if desired.
